| 2012 Meeting Place - Reviewer Krystof Candrowicz (Poland) [left] and artist Leticia Huckaby (USA) [right] |
The Meeting Place Portfolio Reviews are an important and integral part of the FotoFest Biennial, bringing together over 500 international artists and more than 160 international art professionals for one-on-one meetings over the course of three weeks. The FotoFest Biennial is the largest event of its kind in the world.
Over the years, hundreds of artists and reviewers have sent letters and emails to us about the ways they have benefited and advanced their careers through participation in FotoFest programs. Since 2008, we have asked artists to share these stories in a more formal way. To publicize these stories, we initiated and developed a web page, Successes of the Meeting Place.
Since then, hundred of artists and reviewers have contacted us with news of international exhibitions, publications, sales and institutional acquisitions initiated at FotoFest.
Below are Artist Reports we've received to date.

FotoFest is a wonderful opportunity to put your work in front of some of the most important people in the photography world.
I have made connections that would have taken years to cultivate.

2012 Meeting Place Registrant
With the portfolio review, FotoFest does four public Evenings with the Artists - public open portfolio nights, attended by over 700 people. The events provide participating artists with the opportunity to sell their prints and books directly to collectors.
Each Biennial, FotoFest does a Discoveries of the Meeting Place exhibit showcasing work by ten artists selected by reviewers from the previous Biennial Meeting Place. The Discoveries exhibition often travels to other international venues after FotoFest. Between Biennials, FotoFest hosts an exhibition highlighting the work of artists discovered by FotoFest curators at events around the world - International Discoveries.
We are waiting for more of your stories! If you were able to arrange an exhibition, publication, or purchase of your work as a result of your participation in FotoFest, please send your success stories to meeting@fotofest.org so we can celebrate your successes here. We regularly update these pages. If you have exhibitions, publications, or sales still pending, please send us an email with images once your projects are finalized. |
