FotoFest and Paris Photo
FotoFest began the first of its Board of Directors trips abroad with a five-day visit to Paris for the biennial Mois de la Photo and the annual photographic fair Paris Photo. The trip included special gallery and artist tours at one of the world's most important photography fairs, Paris Photo, as well as curatorial tours at leading Paris museums and art spaces.

FotoFest in Bratislava
FotoFest Founders Fred Baldwin and Wendy Watriss, along with Meeting Place Coordinator Jenny Antill, attended the oldest and most prestigious of the Middle European photography festivals, Mesiac Fotografie (Month of Photography), one of the founding members of the Festival of Light network, in Bratislava, Slovakia.

FotoFest Tours New Prague House of Photography
The Prague House of Photography (PHP) Founded in 1989 by photographers and curatorsmove into new and spacious headquarters in 2005. The 1920s building in Downtown Prague replaces the earlier PHP headquarters damaged by August 2002 floods.

FotoFest 2006
Last month FotoFest announced the dual themes for FotoFest 2006 – The Eleventh International Biennial of Photography and Photo-Related Art.

The Earth
The broad theme of Earth is an extension of FotoFest 2004 and the focus on Water. The combination of art, science, and public policy through art installations and forums is a direction that FotoFest is continuing.

Artists Responding to Violence
This is a separate but related theme to that of Earth. The capacity of human society to inflict violence upon itself and the Earth is increasing. FotoFest is not focusing on the depiction of violent acts but rather on how creative artists interpret acts of violence and the human capacity for violence in all aspects of life.

If you are interested in submitting work, please see the newly revised FotoFest 2006 Submission Guidelines. Please do not submit work before reading these guidelines.
