JPMorgan Chase Foundation Awards Grant
to FotoFest for LTP

FotoFest Chairman Fred Baldwin was invited by the JPMorgan Chase Foundation to a ceremony at Heritage Hall at the JPMorgan Chase Building in downtown Houston on December 1, 2004, to receive a check from the foundation to fund FotoFest’s Literacy Through Photography (LTP) educational program.

LTP is the year-round educational component of FotoFest International that uses photography to improve students’ writing abilities, cognitive thinking, and classroom communication skills. For the fall 2004 semester, LTP is in 36 schools with 1600 students in grades 3-12. With program support from school administrators, teachers, and education organizations, LTP provides quality programming that is aligned with Texas state-mandated curriculum requirements for students in third to 12th grades.

FotoFest Collectors' Evening
On the evening of November 19, FotoFest Board Member Alice Thomas hosted a reception and dinner at her River Oaks home for two of the Home and Garden artists, Sarah Green Reed and Anderson Wrangle. Planned as an opportunity for the artists to present their work to a select group of collectors, the evening was well attended and artists were able to speak about their work and themselves. Their presentations and the presence of their work resulted in sales for both artists.

FotoFest 2004 - Water Inspires Dance and Music Performance
The Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble is planning a special concert program February 12 - 13, inspired by FotoFest's recent 10th Anniversary Biennial, FotoFest 2004 - Water.

BLACK RAIN, a new work by choreographer Michele Brangwen and composer Thomas Helton, explores the dark poetry of rain by looking back to the fallout at two Ground Zeros - Hiroshima, and Lower Manhattan after the 9/11 attacks - with a cautionary look into the future under radioactive world leadership. The concerts will also include visual components from FotoFest.

Performances are scheduled for the Barnevelder Movement Arts Complex, 2202 Preston at Hutchins, Houston, Texas. Please visit www.brangwendance.org or call (713) 533-9515 for more information.
