FotoFun - Kids for Kids LTP Fundraiser
FotoFun - Kids for Kids, a fundraising event to support the FotoFest Literacy Through Photography (LTP) program, will take place at FotoFest Headquarters at Vine Street Studios, Saturday, March 12, 2005 from 3-5:00pm.
The Kids for Kids fundraiser is for parents and children. The fundraiser aims to raise both money and awareness of FotoFest's pricipal school-based educational program. At the event children will interact with the art of photography and writing first-hand through different activities. The event's title highlights that FotoFun - Kids for Kids is an event where children will be helping other children.
More volunteers are needed for this event. FotoFest will need help setting up on Friday afternoon March 11, 2005, as well as Saturday, March 12, 2005, before and during the fundraiser. Also, volunteers are needed to work at the activity stations, food & drink station, silent auction, check-in table, LTP exhibit, and information table.
LTP uses photography to improve students’ writing abilities, cognitive thinking and classroom communication skills in 44 inner city schools in Houston, serving more than 81 teachers and 2,000 students.
Tickets for children and parents are available. To inquire about tickets and sponsorship opportunities please contact April Maduzia at 713-223-5522 ext 13 or meeting@fotofest.org.

NAZAR - Photographs from the Arab World
This spring FotoFest will present NAZAR, an exhibit of 18 Arab photographers and 16 European and U.S. photographers about Arab cultures in the Middle East and northern Africa. The show will present 250 photographic works, most of which have never been seen before in the United States.
The show is being brought from the Noorderlicht Photofestival in The Netherlands. In its entirety, NAZAR is unlike anything shown in the U.S. about the Arab world to date. The show was originated and organized by Noorderlicht curator Wim Melis. FotoFest will present the North American premier of this exhibit.
Please watch the FotoFest website for more details as this exhibition approaches.
