Houston and was just one of the gulf coast U.S. cities to have been devastated by this month's Hurricane Ike. Luckily, FotoFest sustained very little damage and lost nothing more than some cardboard boxes and packing material in the basement.

The FotoFest offices and gallery are open for business with our regular hours. Many thousands of our colleagues and neighbors did not fare as well and we look forward to their's and the entire city's recovery. FotoFest encourages everyone to continue to patronize arts in Houston now and in the coming months.

Mechanical Perception is on view six days a week through October 18; Monday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday noon-5pm. As always the FotoFest gallery is free and open to the public. For more information on the exhibit please visit www.mechanicalperception.com

Join us Saturday, October 4 at 2pm
for a Saturday Matinee Artist Talk
with artists Soody Sharifi and Brian Piana

Ms. Sharifi's new installation Outside/Inside is a multi-media, multi-sensory experience that takes you to the streets of Tehran. Mr. Piana's timely internet-based sculptures analyze the two presidential contenders and their cyber-presence while introducing a "new dimension" to his work.

FotoFest Saturday Matinees are free, informal artist presentations in the FotoFest galleries where the public gets to interact with the artist in FotoFest programs in a direct and comfortable setting. If you haven't seen the exhibit yet, this is a great time to catch it.
