July 2008

In addition to its well-known photographic arts Biennials, FotoFest does year-round art and education programming. Following the successful FOTOFEST2008 Biennial in March-April this year, FotoFest announces the next season of Inter-Biennial Exhibitions.

For the 2008-2009 Inter-Biennial season FotoFest has scheduled five exhibitions focusing on regional, national and international artists and exciting collaboration with other organizations such as Houston Center for Photography. To make information on these and other FotoFest programs easier to access, FotoFest is launching a new web-based calendar. To access the FotoFest Calendar and information on the new Inter-Biennial exhibitions, click here.

FotoFest's acclaimed Meeting Place portfolio reviews for artists is an essential part of the FotoFest Biennial. It provides artists the opportunity to have their work seen by important international curators and opinion-makers in the field of photo-related art. Over the course of the last 20 years, the Meeting Place has been the catalyst for exhibitions, publications and wider acclaim for many artists.

To enable Meeting Place participants to share success stories from the 2008 portfolio reviews, we are posting stories we receive from Meeting Place artists and reviewers on Successes of the Meeting Place.  To visit, please click here.

The six weeks of the FOTOFEST2008 Biennial were filled with events from exhibition openings and scholarly lectures to portfolio reviews, curatorial tours, the fine print auction and receptions with participating Chinese artists and curators. Whether you were in Houston this past Spring as a part of the events, or if you weren't able to join us, we invite you to visit the FOTOFEST2008 Biennial Events Galleries to see some of what took place in March-April and the people who were a part of it.
