FotoFest's current exhibition, "Hey, Listen to Me!" Writing Pictures continues through October 8 at FotoFest's Vine Street Studios headquarters. Admission is Free.

Berlin Photography Festival -

In November, FotoFest presents Photography in Houston Galleries, an exhibition of work selected by Houston art galleries that promote and sustain the photographic arts. Look to the November newsletter for information about the show.

 
 

Event: Family Fun Day
October 8, 2005, 1 - 3 pm


FotoFest's Kids for Kids fundraiser, March 2005.

Family Fun Day is the closing party for kids of the exhibition, "Hey, Listen to Me!" Writing Pictures. At the Family Fun Day, children and their parents participate in photography and writing activities related to the Literacy Through Photography program. The event will take place 1 - 3 pm and is free and open to the public. The activities planned for Family Day include group and individual projects. There will also be refreshments.

This month LTP, FotoFest’s digital and film-based writing project, celebrates 15 years working in classrooms around the country. Over the years, FotoFest has trained over 300 teachers who have used the program with over 20,000 students. The program is scheduled to be used in 44 inner-city schools during the 2005-2006 school year - serving more than 2,000 students in the Houston area alone. Teacher trainings are currently being scheduled for the fall and spaces are still available. For more information contact Angela Grace at 713.223.5522 ex.11 or ltp@fotofest.org.


PROJECT STORM
October 8, 2005

FotoFest expresses its condolences for those who lost their lives and homes due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

FotoFest will be participating in PROJECT STORM, Houston Artists and Galleries Fundraiser Benefiting Katrina Victims through the Red Cross.

The exhibition and drawing is to be held Saturday, October 8, 2005, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Ballroom/Project Row Houses, located at 2310 Elgin at Dowling St., Houston, Texas. Art will be displayed in protected areas on the floor facing up as in a Persian Rug or Floor show. (The ballroom is a historical building that has no suitable walls for hanging.) Patrons will purchase a numbered ticket for $150 which will entitle the purchaser to choose one piece of art as their ticket is drawn at random. Art will be selected in order as the ticket numbers are drawn. Each patron will have 2 minutes to choose the art selection of their choice. All proceeds (checks) are made out to The American Red Cross, Houston Disaster Relief. Saturday Matinee - Bayou Pics Series

Co-sponsored by FotoFest and Buffalo Bayou Partnership this walk was
the second in an ongoing series of photographic walking tours along Houston’s historic Buffalo Bayou. Stay tuned for the next Saturday Matinee.

FotoFest 2006
Film and Video Series

Film and video are taking their place alongside FotoFest’s acclaimed photography programs at FotoFest 2006. Programming is scheduled for March 31 - April 9. FotoFest is collaborating with the Environmental Film Festival (Washington D.C.) and will screen in part at the Brown Auditorium Theater at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
