HOUSTON, TEXAS (December 6, 2006) – FotoFest’s second FOTOFUN – Kids Helping Kids children’s party takes place on Saturday, February 10th, 2007 from 1-4pm at FotoFest Headquarters. This year’s theme, FotoLuv, will be a colorful, energized swirl of engaging activities for ages 3 to 12, fostering children’s love of art and photography. Individual tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the door or in advance. Activity station sponsorships are available as well. On the heels of FotoFun’s successful 2005 premiere, co-chairs Gretchen McFarland, Nancy Littlejohn and Liz Glanville are creating a family focused event that introduces children to the hands-on, artistic world of photography in a creative, fun environment. Funds from the 2007 FOTOFUN event support FotoFest’s school-based educational outreach program Literacy Through Photography (LTP). LTP has been at work in Houston-area public schools for 16 years, and teachers widely praise its ability to stimulate students’ engagement in classroom learning. LTP uses photography to improve student writing and communication skills in many inner city schools serving Latino, African American and Asian American student populations.
FotoLuv promises to be a great time for the entire family. Kids will create collages, photograms and prints at the activity stations, dress up and hop into the photo booth, then join the photo scavenger hunt within an exciting exhibition of contemporary photography from Denmark. Professional skateboarding demos and performances by break dancers round out the afternoon. Parents will have the opportunity to bid on select works of art culled from FotoFest’s collection of renowned artists as well as other photography-related kids’ items and packages in our silent auction. Delicious treats will be enjoyed by the whole family while D.J. Luv spins the psychedelic tunes.
