Hans E. Madsen
Hans E. Madsen, Blue Tablecloth, 2003

Since its discovery in 1839 photography has been heralded as the most efficient method of capturing subjects as they ‘really’ look. Hans Madsen finds his subject matter in the things we look at when we don't realize we're looking. This, or something very like it, is what mealtime looks like. It seems to be an entirely inconsequential subject, like much of the data that enters our eyes everyday when we're not paying attention.
