Keld Helmer-Petersen
Keld Helmer-Petersen, Danish Beauty 7, 1982/2005

The artist has been a pioneer of color photography since the 1940s, when the overwhelming aesthetic preference was for black & white. He was one of the first to treat color as a subject of his pictures rather than merely a technological development. He published 122 Farvefotografier (122 Color Photographs), the book that introduced the abstract aesthetic to Denmark, in 1948. Digital technology has now prompted him to revisit old negatives for these new prints.
