First Look

First Look is a collectors group created by FotoFest in 2006 to explore the world of photography and photo collecting. First Look is a membership program that hosts five to six special, members-only events every year, including one regional trip outside Houston. Events include meetings with artists, visits to collectors’ homes, private print viewings at commercial art galleries, special visits to Museum archives and collections, and members-only exhibition tours.

The educational aspects of the events are mixed with social networking and learning about collecting as a way to enjoy and engage in a wonderful art form. Membership in First Look helps support FotoFest’s art programs and artists from around the world.

First Look events increase public involvement and appreciation for photography as an art form and expands awareness of other arts organizations in Texas and the city of Houston.

FotoFest is a non-profit international photography arts and education organization based in Houston. Our purpose is to promote the exchange of art and ideas through the presentation of photography and photo-related art in Houston and internationally. FotoFest’s programs focus on discovery and presentation of photographic art and the expansion of visual literacy education through a school-based photography and writing program.

First Look Membership

We hope you will join this active group of photography enthusiasts. Membership in First Look supports FotoFest, one of Houston's best known non-profit art organizations, and increases the visibilty of other arts organizations in the city.
