FotoFest’s next international Biennial, FOTOFEST2010, is taking place March 12 through April 25, 2010.

FotoFest’s own exhibits for the FOTOFEST2010 Biennial are focusing on contemporary work by contemporary U.S. photographers with invited curators.

Although FotoFest is not accepting submissions for its own Biennial exhibits, submissions of contemporary work about the United States from photographic artists of all nationalities are being accepted for presentation to more than 100 Participating Spaces with the possibility of exhibition at these venues. More submission information is included below.

FOTOFEST2010 Exhibitions - Submissions

FotoFest’s own exhibits for the FOTOFEST2010 Biennial are curated by invited curators.

FotoFest is not accepting submissions for its own Biennial exhibits, but submissions were accepted for presentation to over 100 Participating Spaces for possible exhibition.

FotoFest accepted submissions of contemporary work about the United States from photographic artists of all nationalities for presentation to Participating Spaces. The deadline for submissions was February 9, 2009. The deadline has passed and FotoFest is no longer accepting submissions. Please Note: submissions received after the February 9 deadline will not be reviewed.

Submitted work is reviewed by the FotoFest staff and Art Board. Selected submissions are then posted on the FotoFest website for review by the Participating Spaces.

Please Note: Selection and presentation on the FotoFest website does not guarantee an exhibition during the FOTOFEST2010 Biennial.

2010 International Meeting Place

In addition to the exhibitions FotoFest organizes for its international Biennial, an essential part of the FOTOFEST Biennial is the Meeting Place Portfolio Reviews for Artists. The Meeting Place is one of the largest programs of its kind in the world. Open to all artists who want to register, the purpose of the Meeting Place is to provide artists an opportunity to have their work seen by important International curators, gallery owners, magazine editors, representatives of photography agencies, collectors, and publishers.

For more detail information about the Meeting Place, please visit the web pages for the 2008 Meeting Place

Over the course of the last 20 years, the Meeting Place has been the catalyst for exhibitions, publications, and wider acclaim for many artists. For a list of some of the opportunities artists have been given as a result of the Meeting Place, please see the Successes of the Meeting Place page.

Photographers registered for the Meeting Place also have the opportunity to view exceptional exhibitions in and around the Houston area as well as participate in the biennial festivities, opening receptions, lectures, seminars and workshops. Apart from our formal reviews, you will also have time for informal networking with other professional photographers and reviewers.

The best way to stay up-to-date on Meeting Place news and deadlines is by subscribing to the FotoFest Newsletter.

Registration dates and fees will be announced via the FotoFest Newsletter and on the FotoFest website in late May 2009.

Because of the enormous success of the Meeting Place and the number of applications we receive, FotoFest gives space to registrants based on a lottery system. The lottery will take place in early July 2009. If you do not receive a space based on the lottery, you will be included on our waiting list.
