Publishing the Photographic Book

Sunday, March 19, 2006, 9-4pm

DoubleTree Hotel - Downtown Houston

Panel Discussions
Moderated by Robert Morton

This workshop surveys the field of photographic book publishing in the U.S. and abroad: who is publishing photography, how to reach them, what to expect in the way of contracts, editing and production oversights, how to help a publisher promote and sell your book, and whether to consider self-publishing.

Panelists include editors from large and small publishing houses, book packagers, an agent and marketer, a career consultant, a major photography bookseller, and an expert in self-publishing. A relaxed format, guided by the subject outline is designed to encourage questions and observations from the audience throughout the day's presentations.

Handouts, provided to all participants, include a list of publishers' names and addresses, a glossary of book publishing terms, and a primer on the basics of publishing contracts.
