The 2006 Fine Print Auction
March 14, 2006

The 2006 Fine Print Auction will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Houston, March 14, 2006.

Approximately 100 contemporary international and U.S. artists will be featured in FotoFest's Seventh International Fine Print Auction. The auction provides a rare opportunity to find high quality contemporary fine art photography from Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the United States.

The Preview Reception for the Auction is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Gremillion Gallery, 2501 Sunset. Auction prints will be available for viewing at Gremillion Gallery after that date.

Revenues from print sales at the Fine Print Auction benefit artist programs, and the Meeting Place portfolio reviews allowing hundreds of photographic artists to exhibit work and show their portfolios to important museum curators, publishers, gallery owners, and representatives of photo agencies from the United States, Mexico, South America, Australia, Canada and Europe.

Proceeds from Auction ticket and table sales benefit FotoFest's year-round Literacy Through Photography educational program (LTP) in Houston-area public schools. LTP provides more than a thousand students with cameras and a curriculum using photography to improve writing and cognitive skills. Students are asked to photograph people, places, and events important in their lives, analyze their pictures, and write about these subjects. "My students have developed their creativity and ... their language skills have improved because they are able to express their feelings through a picture they can relate to - they go on and on when creating stories and show pride in their work." Mr. Obed Franco, Thomas Jefferson Elementary, Houston.

The headquarters hotel for FotoFest 2006 is the Doubletree Hotel in Downtown Houston. The 2006 Meeting Place will be held at the hotel as well.
