Major rivers provide thousands of kilometers of lifeblood to millions of people on a daily basis.
For these people, rivers are more than squiggly blue lines on a map. They are thermometers of environmental change,
economic highways, power generators, ablutions for the national consciousness, battlegrounds of political wrangling,
or a spot to wash their clothes.
