This work grew out of a revisiting of simple experiments with water. I am particularly
interested in situations where the physicality of water can be linked to cultural function.
Human history is a story of relationships with water, so it is no wonder that water holds
various meanings. Many of the pictures resulted from a clear programmatic approach to a specific
property of water. Others resulted from time spent being attentive, patient with myself and the
water, and willing to see where my efforts might lead. The best pictures, like the best equations,
are elegant and implicitly argue that they offer the only solution.
