They are set on the floor, a dozen articulated metal fish flopping around frantically in a puddle of dirty
water while one of their number seems to give its last gasp in the middle. The work refers to the sorry spectacle of
polluted rivers. Bundles of trash, empty bottles, steel drums, and aspirin containers spread all around add an extra
dramatic touch. The soundtrack reinforces the poignancy, an ominous arrhythmic beat of a heart moniter about to
flatline.
