The exclusive framer for the FotoFest 2010 Auction and Biennial
FotoFest Headquarters Hotel for the FotoFest 2010 Biennial Doubletree Hotel Houston Downtown.
Eighty-one leading contemporary international and U.S. artists were presented in FotoFest's ninth international Biennial Fine Print Auction. The Auction is one of the main events of the FotoFest 2010 Biennial and provided a rare opportunity to encounter high quality contemporary fine art photography from Latin America, Asia, Europe, North America and Australia.
Denise Bethel, Director, Photographs Department, Sotheby's New York; a renowned expert in the field, again donated her services as auctioneer for the Biennial Fine Print Auction.
Preview Receptions of the Auction were held at Gremillion & Co. Fine Art Inc and the Doubletree Hotel Houston Downtown.
Thanks to the donation of ROMA, all Auction prints were framed with high-quality, Italian wood molding. Works were framed by Justin Matthias, Artists' Framing Resource, Houston, Texas.
The Fine Print Auction Fundraiser and Live Auction event were chaired by Austin James and Blakely Bering, Bering & James Inc., with a committee from the FotoFest Board of Directors and private collectors. Table Sponsorships were $10,000 to $3,000 and Reserved Seats were $300.
Revenues from print sales at the Fine Print Auction benefit FotoFest's artist programs and the Meeting Place artist portfolio reviews, giving hundreds of photographic artists from around the world the opportunity to meet and show art to important museum curators, publishers, gallery owners, and representatives of photo agencies from 21 countries and 25 states in the U.S.
Proceeds from Auction ticket and table sponsorships benefit FotoFest's art programs and FotoFest's year-round classroom-based education program, Literacy Through Photography (LTP), in Houston-area public schools. LTP provides more than a thousand students annually with cameras and a curriculum using photography to improve writing and cognitive skills.
