This Fall, in time for the start of another school year, FotoFest presents a special exhibition of student work from its Literacy Through Photography (LTP) educational program. The exhibition will present over 100 posters and photographs made by students in the LTP program since 1990.
Focusing on the curriculum's four themes of Self, Family, Community and Dreams, the exhibition shows how LTP uses photography to improve studentsí writing abilities, cognitive thinking and classroom communication skills.
The exhibit opens Thursday, September 8, 2005 6-9 pm in conjunction with the Downtown Stomp Around, a multi-gallery celebration of the opening of Houston's downtown arts season, sponsored by DiverseWorks.
This month LTP, FotoFestís digital and film-based writing project, celebrates 15 years working in classrooms around the country. Over the years, FotoFest has trained over 300 teachers who have used the program with over 20,000 students.
The program is scheduled to be used in 44 inner-city schools during the 2005-2006 school year - serving more than 2,000 students in the Houston area alone.
Teacher trainings are currently being scheduled for the fall and spaces are still available. For more information contact Angela Grace at 713.223.5522 ex.11 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
