FotoFest will sponsor Stop, Look, and Listen: A One Day Event of Images and Sounds, a one-day multimedia event with projections and DJ music on November 17, 2001, from 2pm-9pm, at the FotoFest gallery in Vine Street Studios.
The event, curated by Debbie Simon, is being sponsored by FotoFest in conjunction the Warehouse Art Crawl. It is the Ninth Annual Art Crawl in Houston's north downtown Warehouse Districts. A free trolley will shuttle visitors between 12 participating warehouses with over 100 art spaces and studios open to the public.
Two artists will be exhibiting at FotoFest - Jennifer Trice and Amalia Harithas. Trice photographs images of urban interiors and displays them with music, chosen to describe each image. Harithas layers images taken from television and video, and she projects them with the accompaniment of sound and music. Along with Harithas' videos, FotoFest will display her two dimensional works courtesy of Pascal Robinson Gallery.
With Stop, Look, and Listen, FotoFest will have live music in Vine Street Studios exhibition space. The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts' DJ Team will perform from 2pm - 5pm.
From 5pm - 9pm, DJ Sun of KPFT's Saturday night radio show, Solar Grooves, will do a special live performance.
The Stop, Look, and Listen event is part of FotoFest's increased focus on mixed media and the evolution of the still image into multi media and new technology art forms. FotoFest 2002, March 1-April 1, 2002, will feature over 20 Mixed Media/New Technology art installations and events.
Sponsors for FotoFest's Art Crawl event are Margaret Regan , Fletcher Thorne-Thomsen, Jr. and the City of Houston and Texas Commission for the Arts through the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County. Travis Howell of Almost Famous Magazine and Alex Nguyen contributed the invitation design for Stop, Look, and Listen.
