FotoFest 2014 Biennial
SUBMISSIONS
The International FotoFest Biennial continues to grow in recognition and numbers. Over 1,200 photographic artists participated in the 2012 Biennial. We estimate the overall attendance at 265,000 people. Curators, collectors, arts audiences, critics and photographic artists came to the Biennial from 32 countries.
The FotoFest 2014 Biennial takes place March 15 – April 27, 2014.
The FotoFest 2012 Biennial featured 120 Participating Spaces - museums, commercial galleries, non-profits, artist-run spaces, corporate spaces, and retail establishments that choose to exhibit photographic art as part of the FotoFest Biennial.
Participating Spaces participate in the FotoFest Biennial by presenting photography or photography arts exhibitions during the Biennial. Spaces have the option to follow FotoFest’s exhibition focus or they may present work unrelated to the main theme.
Many Participating Spaces request recommendations from FotoFest. To facilitate this, we instituted an open submission process to vet and present works, from artists around the world, to interested Participating Spaces for possible exhibition during the FotoFest Biennial.
For 2014, the focus of FotoFest's own exhibitions is Contemporary Arab Photographic Art. Participating spaces may show work by by contemporary Arab artists or artists of any nationality. The work may be about the Arab world, or any other subject; Arab-related or not.
Submissions Process
FotoFest curators are doing their own research in the Middle East and North Africa for FotoFest's own exhibitions, but we are happy to consider submissions sent by Arab photographers for this purpose.
For Participating Spaces, FotoFest shows selected submissions on a special website to for possible exhibition during the Biennial. As stated above, these works may focus on contemporary Arab artists, artists of any nationality, or work unrelated to FotoFest’s Arab Theme.
