Ricardo Viera is Professor of Art and Director/Curator of the Lehigh University Art Galleries/Museum Operation since 1974. There he has established a visual laboratory/teaching collection program with the over 11,000 art works and ethnological material, and LUAG nationally recognized collection of Latin American photography and video.

Professor Viera teaches courses in museum and curatorial studies, public art, visual thinking strategies,photography as contemporary art,and Latino visual art and culture in the USA. He has organized, curated, co-curated and served as consultant to important exhibitions in the United States, Latin America and Europe.

Professor Viera has been a reviewer and consultant curator for Fotofest since the early 1990s. In October 2006 he was invited to China as reviewer for Meeting Place of the first Fotofest, Beijing and Fotofest Moscow, 2011. In 2007 and 2009 he was a Cultural Envoy to the Dominican Republic of the U.S. Department of State International Education and Cultures Division, and in 2010 reviewer and consultant for GuatePhoto: First Photography Festival in Guatemala organized by La Fototeca and FotoVisura. In the summer of 2011 he conducted Portfolio Review Workshops for the recently inaugurated Centro de la Imagen of the Dominican Republic.

Prof. Viera is interested in all kinds of creative endeavors in photography and new media video art. He has given numerous exhibitions and selected purchases of work discovered in previous portfolio reviews throughout the years. He is interested in work that transcends the ordinary.
