Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin is an International Artists in Residence Center founded in 1975. More than 1000 artists from all over the world have worked there. Within the scope of the Studio Programme, the Künstlerhaus Bethanien provides curatorial support for realising projects, provision of workshops, technical infrastructure (including qualified personnel), presentation of the projects produced in the Künstlerhaus, publicity work for all events, and permanent mediation of contacts to international curators, art critics, and publicists. For the period of their stay (12 months), the grantees receive a monthly subsidy. Acceptance into the International Studio Programme is based on the decision of a jury. Spontaneous applications are not considered. Since 2012, Christoph Tannert has been Artistic Director as well as Chief Curator for the visual arts departments.

Christoph Tannert studied Art History at the Berlin Humboldt University and has been working as an art critic, curator and exhibition manager since 1981. He directed various international exhibitions and book projects. Besides his work as a curator and writer, he directed the 2nd Fotofestival Mannheim Ludwigshafen Heidelberg 2007, one of the International Festivals of Photography in Germany; Leipzig.Fotografie Since 1839,with 200 photographers in three museums in Leipzig, 2011; and Days of Photography Trier in 2011.

Mr. Tannert is interested in looking at artistic and documentary work that seeks to understand the roots of the past, while successfully moving forward with new and exciting ideas in photography and video. He is currently curating exhibitions on young Photography for 2014 and 2015 and is most interested in reviewing creative photography, documentary photography and photojournalism. He can also help artists with networking and promotion in Germany and Europe. Mr. Tannert does not wish to review commercial decorative works.
