Fotografie Forum Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
As Artistic Director and Chief Curator of Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (FFF), Celina Lunsford is in charge of organizing the exhibition program and choosing photographers and lecturers for the FFF Summer Academy. Founded in 1984, the FFF is an exhibition center dedicated to international photographic arts. Apart from curating for the FFF, Lunsford is continually looking for contemporary photographic work to write about or include in exhibitions. She is a curator for RAY Photography Projects Frankfurt/RhineMain, a triennial for international photography, which will take place again in 2015. Lunsford has curated, written, and edited pictures internationally for over 20 years. She can provide first-hand knowledge for presenting work in an international art photography context and market. She also works with different publishers and can provide expertise in editing and advice on the presentation of work for publications or exhibitions. Lunsford is also an advisor for collectors and is currently on the nominating committee for the Prix Pictet Award for Photography and a member of the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize Academy. In 2013 she was the guest juror for the European Publishers Award for Photography.
Lunsford was elected as the Vice President of the Deutsche Fotografische Akademie (German Photographic Academy) in 2010 and has been a member of the Oracle Conference of International Photography Curators since 2003. Additionally, The International Photography Festival Lodz, Poland commissioned her to curate for their 10th Anniversary in 2011 and in 2007 she curated for the Lianzhou International Photography Festival, China. Lunsford has mentored a wide range of international emerging photographic artists through such posts as facilitator for the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo Foundation in Amsterdam in 2009 and for the ASEF (Asia-Europe Foundation) Forum for Photographers in 2007 in both Cork and Dublin. She juries numerous awards throughout the years such as the Award of the Festival International de Mode et de Photographie Hyères, the European Central Bank Annual Photography Award, and the Fotobook Festival Dummy Award in Kassel, Germany.
As a curator, Lunsford is looking for unusual and dynamic bodies of work in all genres, which can be considered for exhibition or publication. She would not like to see commercial or stock agency photography.
