Founder and Director
Wall Space Gallery, Santa Barbara, CA, USA
Crista Dix is the Founder and Director of Wall Space Gallery. The gallery originally opened in Seattle, Washington and has now moved to Santa Barbara, California. Crista started in the creative field of photography as a photographer, collector and lover of the visual image. She decided to put down her camera and focus on artists who transcend the medium of photography and expand the ideas of photographic arts. Her background in science, business and creative arts, has helped her created a gallery space that celebrates the artists' vision.
Ms. Dix has been a member of numerous panels and discussions, juried creative competitions and has participated in major portfolio reviews across the country in cities like Houston, Portland, Los Angeles, Santa Fe and New Orleans.
Wall Space Gallery operates two locations. The main gallery is located in Santa Barbara, California; the other in Seattle, Washington at Utina, located in the South Lake Union district of Seattle, Washington. The gallery maintains an extensive exhibition schedule with ten shows in Santa Barbara, and six in Seattle each year. The gallery has started a blog called the Flat File, which highlight creative photographic artists from across the country. The gallery also hosts a series of artist talks called Open Studio, featuring local artists, and notable artists in the community.
Wall Space Gallery focuses on emerging and mid-career artists with an aim to expand the ideas of what photography is and what it can be. The artists represented by Wall Space Gallery are craftsmen, using photography as an integral part of their work, that layer emotional stories with techniques and processes that enhance the visual experience. The gallery has gained an international reputation for finding and showcasing new artists and exposing new ideas.
