Rebecca Morse is Associate Curator in the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, specializing in contemporary photography. Previously, she was Associate Curator at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) where she had been since 1998. At MOCA she curated Amanda Ross-Ho: Teeny Tiny Woman, Cai Guo-Qiang: Ladder to the Sky, Rodarte: States of Matter, Florian Maier-Aichen, Street Credibility, Larry Clark: Outtakes and Additions, and Bill Owens: Suburbia. Ms. Morse has contributed to exhibition catalogues, juried exhibitions and grants, and has guest lectured at multiple institutions across Southern California where she has also conducted studio critiques.
Ms. Morse is interested in seeing artists who are pushing the medium of photography in new directions, either conceptually or materially. Prints, books, or screen-based presentations are acceptable. In developing exhibitions for LACMA and making acquisitions for the collection, Ms. Morse is continuously looking at new, inventive work.
