Darren Ching
Klompching Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Darren Ching is the owner of the Klompching Gallery in New York, specializing in the sale and exhibition of contemporary fine art photography, by emerging and mid-career artists. Founded in 2007 with Debra Klomp Ching, their exhibits have received critical reviews from publications such as The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Modern Painters, HotShoe and Art Review. For more than a decade, his involvement in the photography industry includes participation in notable photography review festivals, panel presentations, juror of photography awards, and contributions to both online and print publications on the subject of photography. In 2010, Mr. Ching was on the photography judging panel for the Society of Publication Designers annual competition. He is also Creative Director of Photo District News, responsible for the visual design identity of the magazine since 1999, and a Photo Editor for At Length, an online culture magazine. Mr. Ching curated the Photography Now 2008 show at the Center for Photography at Woodstock, and was the featured US Curator (alongside Debra Klomp Ching) with the exhibit, The Architecture of Space, for the inaugural Flash Forward Festival (Toronto, 2010). Klompching Gallery recently became members of AIPAD and exhibited at their 2013 fair.

Mr. Ching is interested in seeing cohesive bodies of work, as well as works-in-progress that possess a high level of craftsmanship, conceptual strength, and a unique artistic vision suitable for exhibition and sale, within the fine art photography market. He can also offer general portfolio advice on presentation, overall creative vision, and editing. Ideally, photographers should present a portfolio of actual prints as opposed to books or screen-based presentations, and Mr. Ching is not interested in seeing commercial or fashion photography. Klompching Gallery has offered exhibition and representation opportunities to photographers with exceptional work that fit into the gallery's curatorial programming and aesthetic sensibilities. A number of photographers represented or exhibited by Klompching Gallery were discovered at portfolio reviews.
