Ballarat International Foto Biennale, Ballarat, Australia
Jeff Moorfoot has a 30 year background in photography covering stints as a commercial photographer shooting studio based advertising and annual report assignments and as an educator lecturing in photography at RMIT University, Melbourne. In 2001 he founded the renegade photographic group 'free radical' www.freeradicaloz.com. He is a Master Photographer, Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. He is the founder and Festival Director of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale [BIFB] Australia and a practising fine art photographer.
He has reviewed folios at Foto Freo, Head On Photo Festival, Pingyao International Photo Festival, PhotoNOLA, Paris Photo and Kaunas Photo Festival. As Director of the BIFB he issues invitations and curates the Core Exhibition Program of the festival as well as managing the Audio Visual projections program for the festival, which at BIFB'13 comprised 65 shows by 58 photographic artists from around the world. He also invites submission for the BIFB online magazines, BETA – developments in photography, which publishes six times yearly featuring up to six artists with folio spreads of up to twenty pages, and One Thousand Words [about photography] which publishes periodically and features written articles, essays and reviews of contemporary photography.
He is interested in seeing all styles of well crafted contemporary work, but is most interested in work that is conceptually well developed and strongly individual. He is less interested in work that travels the path well worn.
