James Edward Maloney

James Maloney is a past member of the boards of directors of both FotoFest and the Houston Center Photography. He is presently a member of the Board of Trustees at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and a member of the Photography Collections Committee of the Museum.
Mr. Maloney has been collecting photography since the late 1980s. His collection consists of images from as early as 1903 and continuing through the present. The collection includes American, French, Swiss, German, Czech, Hungarian and South American photographers.
Mr. Maloney is interested in seeing work that demonstrates originality in vision and excellent craftsmanship. He prefers to see actual prints as opposed to computer images. He is primarily interested in photographs of individuals, portraits, street scenes and the like. He is not particularly interested in landscapes.
A number of the newer photographers represented in his collection were individuals he has met at the FotoFest's Meeting Place in the past.
