ABOUT THE PORTFOLIO REVIEW

FotoFest is in a league of its own. It is something not to be missed by photographers in any stage of their careers.

Welcome to FotoFest's 16-day Biennial Meeting Place Portfolio Review in Houston, Texas.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Houston Downtown

If you are curious as to why we call our portfolio review program "The Meeting Place", it's because the Meeting Place presents the opportunity for photographic artists to meet and show their work to top arts professionals from around the world. The event is literally a "meeting place" - a place where artists, arts professionals, collectors, and colleagues are able to network, collaborate, share ideas, and establish life-long connections.

The Meeting Place provides photographic artists the opportunity to present their portfolios to a wide range of decision-makers who can help assist photographers in their future career development. This may mean an exhibition, purchases work, an arts residency, or the publication in a magazine or book.

We invite some of the most important people in the field of photography from all over the world to come to Houston and review registered artists' portfolios. Reviewers include museum curators, gallery owners, directors of non-profit organizations, magazine editors, representatives of photography agencies, collectors and publishers. See the current list of confirmed 2012 reviewers here.

EVENINGS WITH THE ARTISTS
Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Houston Downtown

As part of the Meeting Place, there are four public Evenings with the Artist - Open Portfolio Nights, presented in conjunction with artist book signings and artist/curator dialogues. The public is invited to meet with artists participating in the Meeting Place, view their portfolios, and possibly buy work.

Professionally, I must say that seeing how FotoFest for the last 20 + years has promoted a platform for international photography - introducing, sharing, collaborating and nurturing a community for the photographic arts in Houston and worldwide, continues to be the best inspiration.
